We’re living in one of the most fearmongering times in history. For insurance companies, Big Pharma, and politicians, fear is worth billions. If you want to control someone, all you have to do is make them feel afraid. For too long, we’ve been brainwashed that allopathic doctors know best, and prescriptions are our only option.

Why make your own remedies?

Turning to the plants and “weeds” in your backyard to make a remedy allows you to take an active role in your health and well-being. But, more importantly, it’s fun, inexpensive, safe, empowering, and it works!

Whether you’re a wanna-be herbal witch, love the idea of making holistic gifts, or just want to live the natural life on a budget, our hands-on Green Witch workshops are a great resource to add some DIY herbal products to your repertoire. Hands-on learning encourages learning by doing. Instead of simply listening to a lecture, participants are engaged with the subject matter by creating something.

Grounded Goodwife Green Witch workshops invite participants to courageously dabble in the world of “witchiness.” Green Witches (like Ehris and Velya) value the earth, trees, herbs, plants, and flowers for their medicinal and healing properties. As the herbalist daughter/herstorian mother Grounded Goodwife duo, they share their knowledge with reassurance and humor.

Grounded Goodwife are absolutely fantastic. Charming and down-to-earth, Ehris and Velya explain how to DIY remedies like kombucha, ginger ale, and vanilla and almond to our curious audience. They're patient with the many questions asked by our participants, and provided a wealth of follow-up information and recipes.

These programs used to be in-person, but Ehris and Velya have quickly pivoted to online programming, and the workshops and presentations are well chosen for adaptation in a virtual environment. Each program had them explaining not only how to make these items, but also tips and tricks for success, and funny anecdotes about their trials and learning experiences along the way (not every DIY is perfect on the first try, and it’s always helpful for attendees to have realistic expectations for their own initial attempts.)

We’ve done a lot of virtual programming over the past year, as have most libraries, and the Grounded Goodwife ranks as one of our favorite presenters. They're high value for your programming dollar! And with a variety of programs from the history of the suffragettes to making fire cider to planting an herb garden, there’s something to entertain every patron.
